Travis was born to a mining family in Derbyshire in the 1960’s. He first started performing at 6 years old in the school choir and took an instant admiration for performing. By the age of 6 years old, his parents bought him his first guitar and he acquired guitar lessons, followed quickly by violin lessons and then organ/piano lessons. He cut his first vinyl record (no C.d. players in them days!!) playing with the North East Derbyshire Orchestra at the age of just 10 years old, followed by drama classes of which he gained several examination certificates from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He was playing concerts at 10 years old with the ‘Fred Baker classical guitar tuition school’ (sadly Fred Baker is no longer with us) and excelled with his classical guitar obtaining several grades.
His Father listened to Country music such likes as Jim Reeves, Hank Locklin, Johnny Cash etc., and although his brothers (Travis is a Twin by the way!!) hated Country music, Travis knew straight away, that this was his kind of music.
Travis was brought up in a ‘down to earth’ family, with strong family ties who appreciates and respects the little things in life, has a tremendous amount of compassion for the less fortunate, and will help anyone who tries to obtain their goals in life. Travis is real, with his feet firmly on the ground, and this is ascertained upon meeting Travis for the first time. “Some people think that artistes are Unapproachable” Travis says, but Travis is all too pleased to speak with anyone and everyone!!
